Just because winter is out of the way doesn’t mean you’re in the clear for weather-related road hazards. Big shifts in temperature can cause big changes in tire pressure, which can be dangerous if left unchecked. While underinflated tires are more prone to blowouts, overinflated tires result in poor traction and can lead to hydroplaning in rainy conditions. Your vehicle’s recommended tire pressure can be found in the owner’s manual or on your driver-side door jamb.
Even with all the preventive maintenance, there’s not much you can do to guarantee you won’t have a breakdown. Make sure to have an emergency kit packed with water, non-perishable food, jumper cables, a flashlight, road flares and a first aid kit stowed away in your car at all times.
