How To Replace Wiper Blades

Checking your vehicle’s wiper blades every six to 12 months is a good routine to fall into. Over time the rubber on the wipers will wear out and leave you with a set of mediocre wiper blades. Routinely inspecting your blades to catch any damage or wear and tear will help you stay on top of replacing your blades before they become unusable. Follow the steps below to help you get a fresh pair of windshield wiper blades installed on your vehicle.

  1. Lift your vehicle’s wiper arms up and place a towel beneath them against the windshield. This will protect the glass in case the arm falls back down into place.
  2. Remove the old wipers by pressing on the tab where the wiper blade and arm meet.
  3. As you press the tab, pull downward to slide the blade off.
  4. Attach the new blade by inserting the wiper arm into the opening at the middle of the blade and pull the blade upwards until you hear it click into place.
  5. Lower the arm onto the windshield and repeat the process on the other arm.
  6. Remove the towel and test the new wipers.
