A few easy steps to jumpstart your car

Step 1: Find your jumper cables – Always make sure to carry a set of jumper cables and keep them in the trunk compartment of your vehicle. Otherwise, there are high chances where you’re stranded on the road without the right equipment.

Step 2: Place both vehicles in Park or Neutral – After you have found a good vehicle to jumpstart your car, park both vehicles in Park or Neutral and make sure you’re shutting off the ignition in both cars. Engage the parking brakes of both the vehicles as well to be on the safer side.

Step 3: Attaching the red clips of the jumper cable – Attach one of the red clips of your jumper cable to the positive terminal of your dead battery. Now attach the other red clip to the positive terminal of the other vehicle.

Step 4: Attaching the black clips of the jumper cable – Attach one of the black clips of your jumper cable to the negative terminal on the battery of the good car. Now, attach the last black clip to an unpainted metal surface on your car (any metal strut would do) that is not near the battery.

Step 5: Start the working vehicle – Start the engine of your working vehicle now and let the engine run for a few minutes. You can rev your engine up to 2000 rpm if you feel more charge has to be given to your dead battery.

Step 6: Try starting your vehicle – After a few minutes, you can now try starting your vehicle. Ideally, the car would start normally but if it doesn’t even after maintaining a proper connection your battery may be beyond any help. After jumpstarting your car, make sure you remove the black clips first followed by the red clips of the jumper cable.
