Heading out on a long road trip can be exciting, but after a few hours in the car it is easy to get agitated as the hours seem to drag on. Road trips can be especially hard on kids, as sitting buckled into their seat can make it hard to have any fun. That is why we at Auto Simple have put together a list of the three best car games for kids during long road trips to help occupy some of the time spent on the road.

This in-car version of bingo combines the excitement of a scavenger hunt with the fun of traditional bingo. Parents can create their own bingo cards of items to find, such as a cow, horse, yield sign, or church, or there are some free printable cards that can be found online. Be sure to use heavier items, such as coins, as markers to cover the found items so that the markers don’t easily slide off of the cards.
This fun and competitive game consists of trying to spot a license plate from every state while on the road. Kids can use a pen and paper to write down all of the state license plates they see, or parents can provide kids with a list of all 50 states to cross off as they spot them.
This fun memory game gets the whole family working together. To start the game, the first player says, “I’m going on a picnic and I’m bringing…” then names an item that begins with an A. The game moves on to the second player who repeats the first players full sentence then adds another item that starts with a B. For example, player two might say, “I’m going on a picnic and I’m bringing apple juice and beets.” The game continues throughout the rest of the alphabet and if anyone forgets an item along the way then that player is out.
